Transportation program

Bus Routes and Medical Escort

The transportation has two programs to offer. One program is the bus routes that offer transportation to go shopping, attend medical appointments and other activities such as planned events. The second program is New Freedom Transportation that also give rides to medical appointments, job interviews or the veterans service office.

The bus route offers 10 routes per month. The bus has routes in Alvin, Armstrong Creek, Crandon, Hiles, Laona, Pickerel and Wabeno. The buses will travel to Rhinelander and Iron Mountain, Michigan per the requests of the riders. The bus drivers will pick riders up at their homes and assist with getting them on and off the bus as well as assist with delivering packages to their door. The cost to ride the bus is $4.00 per day.

With the New Freedom program, drivers will get you to medical, educational, employment related and social events. Riders who have someone to drive them may qualify for the voucher program. The rider can get vouchers to spend on a portion of their transportation costs. To qualify, a person must have a temporary or permanent disability, or be frail elderly, and have a transportation barrier. To schedule a ride with New Freedom, call 1-800-228-3287 or contact our office for more information.
